I like being first. I have to admit that I’m not sure I’ve ever had a Bloody Mary, though I like pretty much everything I drink, from microbrews and wines (faves are Gewurztraminers and Marechal Foches) to frou-frou martinis and whiskey sours. (Did have something with pepper in it at West Cafe that was TOO MUCH.) Carole and I are going on a dream Atlantic cruise on the Queen Mary 2 in September to London, and if I haven’t had one by then, I’ll make certain to order it.
Hey there, I must admit I haven’t had a good bloody mary in a long time, going out tonight to the House of Blues, which kind do you suggest.
Cheers
Michael
Hi Michael!
Sorry I didn’t get back sooner. I’d love to know what sort of Bloody Mary you ended up with on your night out. Please share!
I did want to make sure you had a good recipe lined up for tomorrow’s Superbowl party. Here is the official Green Bay Packers tailgate recipe, so hopefully it will bring your team some luck, whichever team that might be.
12 oz plastic cup filled with ice
generous amount of Lea & Perrins (4-5 shakes)
3+ drops Tabasco
3 shakes celery salt
squeeze lemon wedge
add vodka and tomato juice
shake in between 2 same-sized plastic cups
then squeeze a little more lemon
add pickle, olives, or pepperoncini (or all 3 if you want a meal)
Makes one serving.
(Thank you Dave and Cindy Hyde for that recipe!)
Hi Judy! This is Miranda from Oklahoma. We met at the Inn in Santa Fe and had chips and salsa one afternoon at Maria’s. I’m so excited about your book and your blog. I think I’ll go home and celebrate the end of the week with a Bloody Mary (with pickled zucchini and grape tomatoes)!
Of course I remember you! Thanks for checking in. I sampled a wonderful Sangrita tonight that reminded me of Santa Fe sunsets: vivid, multilayered, and completely intoxicating. I also got quite a schoolin’ about tequila, which I’ll talk more about in a separate post.
